There are parts of this journey we are on that will include elation, that feeling of sincerely being held, of genuine worry as you tell the person you love the seemingly daily adventures you get yourself into, that feeling of being deeply connected to nature as though you yourself could grow roots intertwined in its soil. The feeling of total freedom engulfing your physical body as you have decided to let go of all else except that which truly flows from your soul. You let this energy flow out of you as your actions, words, and thoughts. There are also parts of this journey where your heart sinks so deep in your chest you are convinced it has reached the pit of your stomach. That real feeling of being totally lost and utterly directionless. Queasiness and powerlessness as you watch a loved one truly suffer.  Stabbing pain in your heart at the realization that your soulmate whom wistfully entered your life seemed to just as quickly be swept away.

Then there are the miraculous people who do not just enter your life, they grow roots and plant themselves right next to you for whatever it is you are going through. They are there as your support system whether you just need to complain, whether you need someone to hold you when you cry, when you want to giggle and drink wine, strategize on where they left their lost wallet, they know you so well it goes beyond finishing sentences, the conversation doesn't even need to be had out loud anymore. Mere looks and understanding is exchanged because you are both on the same wavelength and will forever be connected in wherever life's journey decides to take you.

Today is my friend Jess's birthday, I am writing this post because Jess is a truly special individual. (yes I am a little late, but better late than never) It is the mere fact in knowing people like this exist that warms my heart with gratitude. Jess is one of the only people I have met on this planet that understands my bleeding heart because hers bleeds just as deeply. She lives her life with an unwavering genuineness. You know when she is laughing she is laughing with all that she has ever known to be funny. I have cried before and her hug has covered me as a blanket of support and she cries with me because she feels my pain so deeply she allows it to enter her heart, as she does with all things. We have shared stories of loving so deeply that our world seemingly falls apart when that love can no longer stand, of having lost someone we love so much that we feel their vacancy with our entire being, of feeling total and utter freedom the second we step onto an aircraft or jump off of a waterfall, of true sadness when we see the other in any kind of pain.

Jess, here's to many more adventures to come though we need to start taking each other on our respective adventures! Your spirit is so beautiful, you are a shining light to anyone you meet, you are unforgivingly yourself, don't ever change.

Happy Birthday my Soul Sister. Good luck on your journey my beautiful friend, it will be another path of exploration, I know you will let the experience creep into your being and let it change you from the inside out. Thats the beautiful part about us empaths, we let every person, every experience, every place in the world enter our hearts and we make it a part of us eternally, we let everything move us. In some ways we can hurt more than anyone can know or understand but also we allow ourselves to swim in our vulnerability and can feel the greatest love one could ever know. To another year of adventures. Love you, Happy Birthday :)
